Genetic counselors empower patients and their families with information, guidance, and emotional support to help them understand their family history, evaluate genetic testing options, and make informed choices based on test results.

Ohio Association of Genetic Counselors

According to the 2020 Professional Status Survey, Ohio is the workplace of the fifth largest number of genetic counselors in the country with over 100 certified genetic counselors reported1. Ohio genetic counselors have had organized informal meetings for many years to promote the interests of and represent genetic counselors and genetic professionals. In 2019, founding members worked together to formally create the Ohio Association of Genetic Counselors (OAGC).
